2018 was as wonderful as it was challenging for Basebuilder. We kicked-off the new year with the team on the snow capped mountains of Austria. We moved into a new head office. We launched our first campaigns in Hungary and Romania. And behind the scenes we worked on some innovating new products. All whilst generating over 5 million new registrations around the globe. Despite challenges posed by GDPR. We grew our business to the next level, and quite possibly we helped yours do the same.

We are excited to continue our journey into 2019!

2018: a few highlights

Skiing trip
It all started with our memorable trip to Flachau, Austria where we went skiing with the team. Besides developing our skills on the slopes, we also endured numerous teambuilding activities in Flachau’s many apres-ski bars. On several occasions colleagues went off track, but that’s something that Basebuilders do. We explore opportunities outside of the box, we try new things. And yes, in the process we sometimes fall on our asses, but in most cases it brings new interesting insights.

New traffic solutions

Still full of adrenaline from all that skiing, we developed new level campaigns, and together with our clients we designed new methods to increase traffic to their campaigns.

New head office
In May we moved into our beautiful new head office in Utrecht. Located in the centre of thriving Leidsche Rijn, we’re surrounded by countless retailers. To be so close to your customers offers a lot of perspective and gives valuable insights on improvements.

May was all about GDPR. Enforcing a lot of changes, the new regulation really shook up the market and the way we work. Not longer be able to connect a campaign participation to a newsletter subscription has caused a substantial conversion decrease. Understandably, this put a lot of pressure on us to optimise our lead generation methods as the demand for new subscribers has remained to increase. Luckily we started preparing for the GDPR over two years ago. Since then we transformed our platform to meet all GDPR requirements and think up and test new solutions to increase conversions a long time before its official launch.

New countries Romania – Hungary
This year we also launched our first campaigns in Hungary and Romania, bringing our total of countries we’re active in to 17! Getting set up in a new country always brings some interesting challenges: local legal regulations, cultural differences, finding a great translation agency and in some cases, a local partner.

New product: Basebuilder Research
Over the past few months we’ve been working on an exciting new product with the team here: Basebuilder Research. Basebuilder Research is a turn-key solution which allows our clients to collect research data and insights on an ongoing bases. These insights offer clients the opportunity to make data driven choices. All data is easily accessible via our unique platform. Everything is set to launch Basebuilder Research in January 2019.
